Exercycle

An Exercycle is an exercise machine which is modelled on the bicycle. It is effectively a stationary bicycle with controls that increase or decrease the amount of resistance applied to the pedalling action thereby increasing or decreasing the intensity of the exercise. They provide a low-impact, safe and effective cardiovascular exercise and are a staple in most exercise routines.

Training type:

Lat pulldown machine

The Lat pulldown machine is a stack-based cable & pulley weight machine that allows the user to train the muscles of the back and the shoulder, especially the Latissimus dorsi muscle which gives it its name. In many ways the machine provides a more accessible alternative for performing chin-up/pull-up exercises.

Training type:

Weight plates

Plates are disc weights that are slid onto the outer portions of equipment such as barbells and dumbbells to increase their overall weight. These plates are then secured to the equipment using collars to ensure that they do not slide off the apparatus.

Training type:

Dumbbell

A dumbbell is a weight training equipment usually consisting of a short rod with weights - usually plates and sometimes spheres - affixed on either end. The rod is often engraved with a cross-hatch knurl to improve grip. Dumbbells can either be used individually or in pairs.

Training type:

Collar

Collars are used to secure weights onto equipment such as barbells and dumbells. Using collars ensures that the plates do not fall off and also help in reducing unnecessary jiggling during the exercise.

They come in a variety of designs and mechanisms. Some of the more popular types are the Spinlock, Spring and Lock-jaw collars.

Training type:

Barbell

A standard barbell is a wide steel bar which has weights, usually in the form of plates, affixed to either end. The central span of the rod is kept open for the hands of the lifter while the plates are added to either end. The weights are secured using a pair of collars which prevent them from sliding off. Cross-hatched knurls decorating the central portion provide grip on an otherwise smooth and slippery surface.
